You are looking at a somewhat hard to find in the U.S.,
Tomy Takara Plarail Mororized JR500 Shinkansen Bullet Train set. Included with the set is the motorized bullet train engine, a dummy (non-motorized) bullet train engine and a passenger car.  Also included is a train station and 16 sections of Plarail track that included 2 turnouts and 1 stop-n-go section for use at the train station. The track can be set up in different configurations than what is shown in the pictures.
The small tunnel pictured on the box and the 1 minifig is NOT included. The motorized engine has been tested and works great. Its battery compartment is clean and free of any battery acid leaks. It is powered by 1 standard "AA" cell battery (included).
Yes, Tomy Plarail tracks are compatible with Thomas the Train tracks.
