Klong thad (Thai: klong thad, pronounced [klɔːŋ tʰát]) are large barrel drums used in the classical music of Thailand. They are played with large wooden sticks. They are usually played in a pair and used in the piphat ensemble.
Klong Thad is a large double-sided drum. Both faces are made of cowhide, pinned by rivets. The drum puppets are made of hardwood. Lathe inside until it is hollow. Slightly bloated in the center, the pin that holds the leather is called a whip.
